I'm a lady, you're a lady...let's bake something!

Note: This piece won't make up for my lack of posts over the last month, but at least I'm starting to warm up. I'm also going to be featuring some guest bloggers in the near future, so stay tuned!

This photo is featured in an Obama spot that runs every 30min in the Philadelphia area. I get the point they are making, but I still think it's just plain sweet.

With the defeat of one H.R.C. a few months back, my interest in politics has been apathetic bordering on anarchistic, that is until those crazy republican wa-hoos brought Governor Palin into my life. Yes...yes! A woman can be governor of a huge state, sure it only has a population of a little over 600,000* brave souls, but it's really really big. Yes, a woman can be a viable candidate for Vice President and no one's laughing like last time. Wait, scratch that last part.

I love that Fox News has now become a fervent voice against sexism (when applied to Sarah Palin). I love that abstinence education has more proof of its ineffectiveness (yeah, I went there) and I love that Senator McCain's "people" think that my reluctant ObamaVote can be swayed by a VP with a vajayjay. I also love all the Photoshopped images of Governor Palin flooding people's inboxes. Oooh, and I love the gossip I heard directly from folks who attended the DNC divulging that Governor Palin's Down Syndrome baby might not be hers, but is in fact her teenage daughter's. Classy guys, really classy.

Ten bucks to whoever does one of these poses for their Christmas card. I've been assured they are fake. The Internet told me so. OH, and this is totally wrong. Where are the Biden Speedo shots already?

The pundits adore her sassy lady hunter swagger, her Tina Fey glasses and of course her smart suits - often featuring something called a skirt. The Daily Show's cup officially runneth over and I've noticed a slight spring in Senator McCain's step. All is well it seems in the soon-to-be ObamaNation except, wait a minute now...according to the Gallup Poll today McCain is up by 5 points?! Sure the margin for error is like five points and the Gallup Poll is sort of a joke, but are Americans really buying this former hockey mom schtick? And who the hell cares if she was a hockey mom in the first place? The more I see McCain and Palin standing at various podiums, him doing that creepy toothless grin he's so fond of and her spewing conservative cliches disguised as a call for change, the more I'm freaked out that America will pull a 2004 on us. So, my plea is to that swinging 21% out there. This whole Obama thing may creep a very few of us otherwise well-behaved Dems out, but the alternative is soooooo much creepier (especially if you have a womb and would like to hold exclusive rights to said womb).

Check out this Gloria Steinem piece if you haven't already.
I want to be as smart as her when I grow up.
"This isn't the first time a boss has picked an unqualified woman just because she agrees with him and opposes everything most other women want and need. Feminism has never been about getting a job for one woman. It's about making life more fair for women everywhere. It's not about a piece of the existing pie; there are too many of us for that. It's about baking a new pie."
Steinem, September 4, 2008 LA Times
