Love is in the air.

"Good morning!", the bus driver greeted me with a huge smile, waited for my reply, smiled again and actually hopped in her seat a little, giddy from what I can only assume to be Obama's historic victory last night. And she wasn't the only one. Bus riders seemed more polite today, more considerate and aware of their fellow passengers - their fellow citizens. I even observed a few making eye contact.

This town, again, took the streets last night, though in much smaller numbers compared to the Phillies riots...I mean celebrations. I received many texts last night from anxious friends as the reports came in. My favorite came shortly after 11:00pm, "OMG! OMG! OMG!" As hopeful as I am for our country's future and as anxious as I am to see if President Elect Obama can deliver if only on a few of his grand promises, I can't help but wonder if the outcome would have been the same if McCain had the arsenal of cash behind him as Obama did. I'm still extremely relieved that Sarah Palin will be safely sequestered in Alaska and not bringing her brand of down home crazy to the world, but they were out spent 3 to 1 overall and 4 to 1 in some parts of the nation. Does that seem a little unfair to anyone else?

Anyway, I'm still pretty happy today. Not as happy as I would have been if Senator Clinton got the chance to crush McCain into little tiny pieces, but you can't always get what you want.
