Movie Review: I Love You, Man

Segel & Rudd, the next Tracy & Hepburn.

OK, let’s get this out of the way first. I Love You, Man starring Paul Rudd and Jason Segel is NOT a Judd Apatow production. Judd didn’t produce it, direct it or write it. It is the brainchild of Along Came Polly’s John Hamburg. I Love You, Man is the story of Peter Klaven (Rudd), a contemporary sensitive straight man on a quest to fill the only void in his life, his lack of a BFF, hopefully in time to find the best man for his quickly approaching wedding. And after a series of unfortunate man dates, he happens upon Sidney Fife (Segel) and as you've seen in the previews, Sid brings just the right wild and crazy to Peter's J-Crew world*. Sounds like a pretty trite concept, right?
